FLORALS
Q: How long will my dried florals last?
A: With proper care your florals should last years. They are completely dried. Scented florals like lavender will lose the strong scent after awhile but otherwise remain the same. Follow the care tips given below for longevity.
- Avoid prolonged heat/sunlight/humidity exposure.
-Dust with canned air or hairspray on low to revive fluffiness and remove dust.
- Do not put in water, they are already dried.
-DRIED eucalyptus can be hung in your shower, it is not recommended for PRESERVED eucalyptus as they have a dye that can run.
ETHICS & SOURCING POLICY
At Earthen Fern, we believe in celebrating nature in all forms.
Every insect has naturally passed before coming to us, so we can preserve them and appreciate them for years to come. All insects come from conservation farms that are regulated by local wildlife authorities to ensure the success of certain species. These programs give jobs to hundreds of locals in the area, and is an important part of their economy. Insects lay thousands of eggs at a time, some are held back for preservation research, pinning, scientists, etc while the majority are released. Most specimens are not perfect, and may be missing antennae or have small rips in the wings due to living full natural lives.
Animal bones used are never harvested just for this purpose. They are a byproduct of roadkill, vet techs, city/road workers, hobby farms, sustainable hunting, or naturally found in the wild. We believe that using these byproducts in our creations is environmentally friendly, and a way to honour nature even in death.
ENTOMOLOGY WARRANTY DISCLAIMER
These are made of natural, biological products. They should be kept out of direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature fluctuations for longevity. I offer a 2 month grace period for extreme problems like mold. I will either replace or 50% refund. After 2 months, I cannot take responsibility for the condition of your piece. Please note that it is natural after a long period of time for some specimens to fade including flowers, insects, moss, etc.
Mites: unfortunately mites are sometimes a problem with insect collections. If you notice microscopic mites moving around, put your item in the freezer for a few days and it should kill them off. It’s important to periodically check your collection especially if you are an avid collector with lots of natural specimens.
